Charter Walk Sponsor Pendleside Hospice’s Corporate Challenge:

Charter Walk are thrilled to announce they will be the main sponsors of Pendleside Hospice’s Corporate Challenge for 2018. Local business are given a £50 starter fund which they have four months to turn into as money for the hospice as they can. Christina Cope, Pendleside Fundraising Manager, said, ‘We are delighted to have so many businesses sign up to our third Corporate Challenge. We hoped to get 30 businesses on-board but 41 have signed up which is incredible!’

Debbie Hernon, Charter Walk Centre Manager, added ‘The centre are thrilled to support such a worthy local cause. Last year the campaign raised over £97,000 and we can’t wait to see what exciting fundraisers local business host this year to beat that total!’

Budding Burnley Supports Spacious Places

The community allotment project based at Charter Walk Shopping Centre, Budding Burnley has donated its first harvest of vegetables to a local foodbank, Spacious Places.

Budding Burnley, launched in March 2018, was created to grow produce to be donated to local community causes and to benefit those in Burnley and the surrounding areas. Spacious Places is a foodbank based in the Town Centre which delivers directly to the homes of people needing their help. From January – December 2017 Spacious Places received 1,464 referrals, feeding 2,761 people.

A spokesperson from the foodbank said, ‘We rarely receive fresh food, this has been a huge help to us to receive some fresh produce’. Debbie Hernon, centre manager, commented ‘We are thrilled to be working with such an important local cause and we hope the food bank donations really make a difference to the people of Burnley.’
