Santa visits Lapland winner in Burnley

A fairytale and picturesque setting awaits an excited young boy from Bacup as he prepares to head off for a Christmas break he will never forget. Father Christmas made a very special journey to Burnley this week to meet the lucky winner and wish him a safe and magical trip before he heads back to Lapland.

Lucky Nathaniel Joseph Unsworth (9) of Booth Road, Stacksteads beat off scores of others to take first prize in the Charter Walk Shopping Centre Lapland competition to win the all expense paid dream trip to Lapland.

Nathaniel, his mum and dad and best friend Jack will jet off on Saturday 20th December 2008 where they can expect to have a very special meeting with Father Christmas himself before enjoying a reindeer sleigh ride and a trip on a sledge with huskies. The magical once in a lifetime experience will even include lunch in the snow covered surroundings.

To win the competition, Nathaniel had to simply explain why he wanted to win. He said, ‘I would love to go to Lapland; to see it in deep snow; I would love to feed you Rudolph; and see fast huskies go; I’d love to see real Santa and feel his soft white beard; I’d remember it forever; until I’m old and weird.’

Charter Walk General Manager, Chris Gribben wished Nathaniel and his family ‘bon voyage’. He added ‘The standard of entries was fantastic and it was very difficult to choose the winner, especially as there can only be one. Nathaniel had obviously used lots of imagination to create an amazing entry. His response to the ‘I want to go to Lapland’ question made both me and the other judges laugh. He obviously gave it a great deal of thought which were expressed in his own words. I hope Nathaniel has a wonderful trip and I cant wait to hear all about his adventures in Lapland.’
