Charter Walk Shopping Centre’s car
park achieves Park Mark Award
Charter
Walk has become one of the first shopping
centres in the area to be awarded Park
Mark status, a nationwide safer parking
award.
The initiative, sponsored by the Association of Chief Police Officers, the Home Office and the British Parking Association, has been developed to reward schemes that reduce crime and the fear of crime in parking facilities.
Park
Mark, is only awarded to parking facilities
that have put in place measures that help
deter criminal activity and anti-social
behaviour, thereby doing everything they
can to prevent crime and reduce the fear
of crime in their parking area.
For customers, the Park Mark Award means
that the area has been vetted by the Police
and has measures in place in order to
create a safe environment.
The new award is an improvement on the
existing Secured Car Parks Scheme (SCPS)
that had been running for the past 10

had previously achieved the secure car
park status. It is fantastic that Charter
Walk continues to win this award.
Our car park has always been one of the
safest in town, so we are naturally very
proud that we are one of the first in
the area to be recognised for this new
award with its significantly higher standards.”
